The first thing you must decide is, How close do you want to be to God? We live in an instant society, people want a quick fix, they don’t like this word…. “Work”. Well, anyone in a successful relationship with another person will tell you it takes work.
Some people get saved and then go no further in their relationship with God. They don’t grow spiritually, if you see them 20 years later they are on the same spiritual plateau, haven’t grown a bit closer to God. Others go from getting saved to being a Holy Ghost arsenist in 2 years! How does that happen? Hunger and seeking!
Whatever you are hungry for is what you’re going to fill yourself with. If you desire to get closer to God you must get hungry for things that pertain to Him; His Word, spending time in prayer and fellowship with Him, going to Church to learn and to be with other believers. These are things that help you to grow spiritually. You can’t sit in front of the tv or stay busy in the pleasures of this world and ignore spiritual things, go to Church for an hour a week and think you’re going to grow spiritually, ain’t gonna happen!
So you have to decide for yourself, nobody can do this for you and nobody can stop you but You!
Philipians 2:12 says Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
You determine how close you want to be to God. When you seek Him you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart. Draw close to Him and He’ll draw close to you.
Maybe it’s time for you to change your apetite? Stop looking for some quick, magical formula to the presence and power of God and get your focus on Him, draw near to Him, Seek Him while He may be found.
Your eternal life depends on it!
