Just like your physical body needs food for fuel, your spirit man needs fuel also, and that is the Word of God, the Holy Bible. You eat food everyday, so you must also feed on the Word of God everyday to keep your spirit strong and moving!
I personally begin each day reading my Bible. Before I start reading I ask the Holy Spirit to ‘help me to understand what I’m reading’ because Jesus said, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.” John 14:26
I then ask Him to help me to ‘hold His Word in my heart, to remember His Word’ because the Bible says in Psalm 119:11″Thy Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.”
And then I declare that ‘I will be a doer of the Word and not just read it!’ According to James 1:22 “Be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only, deceiving yourselves.” and Romans 2:13 says, “For it is not the hearers of the Law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be declared righteous.”
You can’t eat a small snack once a week and expect your body to stay alive and active? So, you can’t go to Church once a week, listen to a sermon that has some Word in it, and expect your spirit man to stay alive and active! It’s not going to happen! You need to eat Daily!
I heard a quote one time that is so true:
“Dirty Bible-Clean heart, Clean Bible-Dirty heart”
We don’t think about how our digestive system breaks down every food that we take into our bodies when we eat a meal, but when it goes in, our body separates vitamins and nutrients and does it work; when we read the Bible, the food for our spirit, we also don’t realize the powerful effects it is having on us! But the writer of Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
I hope you realize how important it is to read the Word as often as you can, but at least start your day with it! They say, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” but I say, “The Word of God is the most important meal of the day!”
Your everlasting spirit/soul depends on it! Be blessed as you feast on the Word of God!
